Top 5 FBS Matchups for Week 0 | What are the games to watch?

1.University of Nebraska vs Northwestern University (In Ireland)

This is going to be fun hopefully 2 Big Ten teams going at it in a conference matchup in Ireland. Nebraska’s offense is led by sophomore running back Rahmir Johnson who had 495 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns in 2021. For Northwestern’s defense, they have junior defensive back Cameron Mitchell who had 31 tackles and 4 PBUs last season. Offensively the Wildcats have junior running back Evan Hull who had 1,009 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns in the 2021 season. For the Husker’s defense, they have junior linebacker Luke Reimer who had 108 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 6 PBUs.

2.University of North Texas at University of Texas-El Paso 

Honestly, even though I put this matchup 2 this matchup is almost like 1b because to me these are 2 teams hungry to win this year. Redshirt senior running back Ronald Awatt leads the Miners offense this year after having 844 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns last season. For North Texas’s defense, they have junior linebacker KD Davis who had 121 tackles, 16 TFLs, and 5.5 sacks. Offensively the Mean Green have wide receiver Roderic Burns who had 802 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. For the UTEP Miners defensively they have senior linebacker Tyrice Knight who had 102 tackles and 9 TFLs.

3.University of North Carolina-Charlotte at Florida Atlantic University 

The 49ers go to Boca Raton, Florida to take on the Owls. Florida Atlantic’s offense has  LaJohntay Wester wide receiver who had 702 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Defensively for Charlotte, they have redshirt senior defensive end Markees Watts who had 61 tackles, 7 TFLs, and 6 sacks in 2021. The 49ers offense has junior wide receiver Grant DuBose who in 2021 held 892 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. For the Owls defense, they possess redshirt junior safety Teja Young who had 59 tackles and 5 PBUs last season. 

4.University of Nevada at New Mexico State University 

Another fun matchup here involving Nevada and New Mexico State. The New Mexico State offense has grad wide receiver Terrell Warner who had 334 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively for the Wolfpack, they have 5th-year defensive back Tyson Williams who held in 2021 46 tackles, 5 PBUs, and 4 TFLs. For Nevada’s offense, they have 5th-year running back Toa Taua who had 732 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns in 2021. Defensively for the Aggies, they have senior linebacker Chris Ojoh who had last season 72 tackles, 16 TFLs, and 6 sacks.

5.Vanderbilt University at University of Hawai’i 

The interesting matchup in Hawai’i. For the Rainbow Warrior’s offense, they have Dedrick Parson who had 618 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns in 2021. Defensively for Vanderbilt, they have senior defensive back Jaylen Mahoney who held 53 tackles, 6 PBUs, and 4.5 TFLs. Junior wide receiver Will Sheppard had 577 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns for the Commodore’s offense in 2021. Defensively for Hawai’i, they have senior linebacker Penei Pavihi who had 47 tackles and 4.5 TFLs last season.
