New Orleans Saints punter Blake Gillikin the third-year punter with the team proved he deserves a shot with the team after hitting an incredible 81-yard punt in the preseason.
Saints punter Blake Gillikin was hit with a random drug test after booming an 81-yard-punt.
Taking to Twitter this morning, Gillikin revealed that he got a message from the NFL stating that he’s been chosen for random drug testing. Gillikin responded by joking, “Punt at your own risk.”
Gillikin was a four-year starter at Penn State, Gillikin is ranked No. 2 on Penn State’s career punting average charts (43.03 avg.) He landed 53 career punts downed inside the opponent’s ten-yard line (seven in 2016, 18 in 2017, 12 in 2018, 15 in 2019) and is the only player in program history with seven punts of 65 or more yards.
Last year Gillikin averaged 47.7 yards per punt with a long of 63. He is definitely starting to blossom into one of the better young punters in the NFL. The Saints punter will likely pass his test and move on, but this is funny!
