Report: Deion Sanders hires Mike Zimmer as a coach at Jackson State
Mike Zimmer just lost his job in the NFL, and Deion Sanders is hoping he will be joining him at Jackson State.
Today, Coach Prime posted this tweet saying rumor has it, Former NFL head coach Mike Zimmer might be joining Jackson State.
The Vikings fired Zimmer, 66, after eight seasons. Many feel he is a very well-respected defensive mind, and that would definitely help Deion with the transformation of star DB Travis Hunter.
Hunter was a long-time Florida State commit before flipping during the early period in December. Hunter became the first No. 1 overall recruit to sign with a non-Power Five program, signaling a new era that Sanders strives to continue.
Adding someone like Mike Zimmer could be huge for college football and the HBCU’s!!
UPDATE: Mike Zimmer confirms with HBCU Gameday he has in fact took a job with Deion Sanders and Jackson State! This is huge news. Here was the quote from Zim himself.
“He’s asked me about it a few times,” Zimmer said. “The pay’s not good. But I do love Deion and I’d do anything for him.”
