Browns owner Jimmy Haslam says the team stands behind Deshaun Watson because he is their star quarterback
The Cleveland Browns are about to get booed even louder than before. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam admitted today when talking to reporters that the main reason he is standing behind Deshaun Watson is because he is his star quarterback.
“I think in this country, people deserve second chances,” Haslam told reporters. “Is he never supposed to play again? Is he no longer supposed to be part of society? That’s what we’re going to do. We gave Kareem Hunt a second chance and that worked out pretty well.”
He was asked if the second chance is because is their quarterback.
“You can say that’s because he’s a star quarterback. Well, of course,” Haslam acknowledged.
Watson’s suspension will begin on Aug. 30. He can return to the team’s training facility and participate in limited activities on Oct. 10.
The Browns are a mess right now, and I cannot see how this ends well. I hope for the fans sake the Browns can somehow rebound. On the other hand, Baker Mayfield will be starting week 1 for the Panthers. I guess one quarterback got out of the mess….
