What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I’ve always wanted to be around a ball, and football just pulled me in that direction where it just felt like a perfect fit. I grew up studying the game at a younger age where it just made sense and I knew this was what I wanted to do.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
I enjoy every moment I get when it comes to football. Every play could very well be your last which makes it very special. However though if I needed to pick one I would say being apart of Alfred State’s first Conference ring.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
Baker Mayfield WITHOUT a doubt. If you wanna talk to someone that loves the game that’s Baker. I’ve heard his story a million times, but I would like to hear it in person for myself. I watch his highlights from Oklahoma before every game.
What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?
I bring all the positive energy. Lead by example and as far as on the field, I use my voice to empower & motivate those around me whether it be offense, defense or special teams. I bring a type of grit to my game where I thrive in being vocal and leading my team to success. No matter the outcome of a play, drive, half or end of game, I continuously motivate my teammates by being vocal, uplifting, and backing up my emotions for the game with my on field success.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mother, she passed away last September due to cancer. She was a single mother who raised me to the man I am today. Without her I don’t know where I would be or what I would be doing. However, I know that she is proud of me. Sticking to the plan and making sure I finished what I started.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
I would say an RPO based offense. There’s ton of opportunities and it allows you as a quarterback to almost never be wrong. Gives you the freedom to go out and play your game how you see it.
What should we know about Aaron Jenkins the person?
Aaron Jenkins is an outgoing individual, a motivator, someone you can always rely on any time you need him. He’s loyal to the ones he loves. Aaron also is a leader, takes charge of everything in any given time.
What is a moment that improved you as a football player?
Every first loss of the season. It’s humbling to prepare day in and day out and end up in the loss column. Gives you more motivation to never settle and always push to be better.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
I’m looking forward to playing in a new environment closer to home. New coaching, new culture, and most importantly new milestones. At Adrian we have a awesome group of guys who are all competitors who push each other to be there very best at everything they do. I believe that we will shock the nation and be a top contender in our region.
What would a team get in a player like you?
They would get something different. I feel confident that I can play multiple positions at a very high level where they can plug me in where needed. I would compare myself to a player like Taysom Hill where I can be effective in all phases of the game. All I need is one opportunity to show that I can be a dominant all around player for any organization.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I would say I handle both challenges alone. I like to think them through and make sure I can overcome them as strong as possible. Think before do.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
I would say Roman Napoleon, WR Alfred State. This is a kid who came in worked his butt off from day one and last season he was a big reason for my success. I am thankful for being able to play with him and he I can see him definitely playing after college.
