Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator was not a big fan of Baker Mayfield before the NFL Draft | Could there be trouble in Carolina?
Ben McAdoo the former Giants head coach and current offensive coordinator in Carolina was not coaching in 2018, but he was asked about the quarterbacks in the 2018 Draft class and he was not very high on Baker Mayfield.
McAdoo told the New York Post that while he did like Baker as a person, he noticed major drawbacks with the young quarterback. You can read them below.
“I didn’t see a lot of pro-style football in his college tape,” McAdoo said. “And if you’re short you have to be able to make up for it some way, somehow, and personality doesn’t do that. I didn’t think he was a great athlete. This guy is kinda like a pocket quarterback that is short and with small hands, that’s what I worry about.”
McAdoo actually ranked him the sixth best quarterback in the NFL Draft that year, OUCH.
He had Josh Allen as the best quarterback then Lamar Jackson. He then put Sam Darnold who is on the roster with Baker right now, Josh Rosen and Mason Rudolph all ahead of Baker.
Mayfield will compete with Darnold for the starting spot. I wonder if McAdoo will keep his rankings the same…..
This could be interesting.
