What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I loved watching it growing up. My family is a huge football family. I grew up watching alot of college football and started playing at 6 and I just grew to love the game.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
I would have to say a big game was our school beating our rival Grand Valley State for the first time in 30 years. My first college touchdown I had and the day I got my official offer to play for Wayne State.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My grandfather, ever since I was little he always brought me to camps and pushed me to do better and he’s helped me see the game in ways many people don’t and I’m grateful for that. Behind him in a close 2nd would be my grandma because there hasn’t been one game I can’t hear her cheering and ringing the cowbell.
What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?
I bring a positive energy, try to uplift teammates and let teammates know that there is a next play and don’t dwell on the negatives that happen and if you have a team full of positive players there’s alot that goes your way.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
George Kittle, I consider myself a guy full of energy and Kittle seems like he has alot of fun and I would have a blast with him as well as learn alot about the game and alot about life.
What are your favorite things about playing football for Wayne State?
I love the team brotherhood that we have here there’s a family atmosphere here. We have a really good strength and conditioning program here and not alot of teams have a strength and conditioning program like us. Playing in a big city like Detroit allows us to do things that most teams can’t.
What should we know about Nick Poterack the person?
I’m a guy that’s willing to go out of his way for others, I’m a team first guy and I believe that you want your team to be successful and I’m a disciplined man who can basically get what needs to be done, done.
What is your favorite route and why?
Corner route, I like it because you can really work a move and sell it to your opponent and shows your speed and ability to catch it if you go up against a good defender that has good cover ability and if you are able to get open successfully that’s why it is my favorite route.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
With an open mindset, I’m a guy who goes at a challenge head on and if something is going to come challenge you I like having a short memory so you just move on.
What would a team get in a player like you?
Someone who is ready to work and willing to work, put my head down and get better everyday and put in extra work whether that’s playing offense, special teams or being on the practice squad.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
I’m just looking forward to playing with the boys and hopefully ending on a high note, having a great college career and helping my team win.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Landin Mitchell, that dude was a dog on the offensive line and he would destroy anyone in his way and he was a very deserving underrated player for Wayne State.
