Which quarterbacks will be heading the NFL Draft 2023 list?
As always, the groundwork begins early for the NFL Draft, which is a highly anticipated event. General managers have dispatched scouts to run the rule over the most promising quarterback prospects and they will be lining up their targets.
Although some franchises will prioritize certain positions over others, such as the wide receiver or line back, the quarterback slot is arguably one of the most coveted in the NFL.
While the NFL Draft may have been slightly underwhelming this year, it is hoped there will be a complete sea change in 12 months and a few diamonds could be unearthed.
Among the potential players that could head the NFL Draft 2023, is C.J. Stroud. One of the undisputed stars at Ohio State, Stroud grew as the season wore on. He boasts some of the best anticipatory throws in college football and he has one of the best middle-of-the-field throws at that level too.
He can mix things up with his drive passes and he can pull defenders out of position. Stroud still needs to polish aspects of some of his game, but he’s not far away from being the complete product.
Bryce Young, however, will be pushing Stroud hard for the No.1 overall pick. Young and Stroud are both in the running for the Heisman Trophy and the College Championship, and Young has done a lot to put Alabama football on the map.
And Young has many assets, including a strong arm as well as excellent vision. Young would also be an excellent replacement for Russell Wilson, who was traded away by the Seattle Seahawks.
You do of course get a few sleeper prospects that could get picked out earlier than expected in the NFL Draft. One of those is Cameron Rising of Utah who produced 2,493 passing yards and 499 rushing yards in the 2021 season. Rising has also impressed members of the Peyton Manning camp, and while he might be under the radar, he could turn a few headsnext year and get picked in one of the earlier rounds.
NFL teams are always looking for ways to add value to their side. One of the names that springs to mind is Josh Allen who was viewed as a potential top-10 pick in the 2016 season. But things materialized in 2018 when Allen was the No.7 overall in the 2018 draft, and he has developed into a superstar.
The quarterback position has become an all-conquering role and some franchises will do all they can to land the dream player. Some quarterbacks have transcended the game in a way that few others have managed to do so in their careers. Tom Brady falls into this category, as he has been a serial Super Bowl champion, and the New England Patriots value their NFL memorabilia highly to reflect this. A signed Brady 2000 PlayOff trading card, for example, was listed for $76,500. Brady though hasn’t hung up his helmet just yet as he is plying his trade for the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Stroud and Young are creating waves and they could well take center stage for the NFL Draft 2023. For football fans at least, it will be fascinating to see how things pan out.
