What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
Well to be honest I’ve always loved baseball more than football until I got to middle school ball. I had a coach there that really made me enjoy the work and physicality of the sport and made me want to be a lineman that really wanted to put your ass in the dirt. So 6th grade would have to be the main reason I wanted to continue to be a football player.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
One of my favorite moments of my career has definitely is from high school ball. My senior year I played both sides of the ball. I received all state for both sides. We were playing a rival on homecoming night. We were up by 6 and they were threatening to score and it was fourth down. They had tried to triple team me and I got through to make the game winning sack and that to me was really great.
What sets you apart from other offensive linemen?
What sets me apart from the other offensive linemen is that I’m raw in talent. I have so much more to learn in my abilities. In high school we never really passed the ball. And I have had to learn something new every year I’ve been in college. From watching tape on my favorite players and learning the tendencies that help them succeed.
What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?
The energy that I bring is the will to win. The will you do what I need to help my team win. Whatever the coaches ask of me to do to win. I will do. I’m a fiery competitor and hate when I lose a battle on the field. The energy from me will always be high.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
I would hang out with Taylor Lewan. I listen to almost all of his podcasts. I enjoy watching him play and I learn a lot from his play and his competitive attitude.
6.What are your favorite things about playing football for Cumberlands?
The people that I’m around at this university are some of the most uplifting people you’ll ever meet. I love knowing that they look forward to watching us play as a team and always hold us to a higher standard. The coaching staff just gets me fired up every time I think about a new season. Just my willingness to do my best for them. They hold us to higher standards as well.
What should we know about Logan Stephens the person?
Me as a person is someone you’ll usually see with a smile on his face through the good and bad times in my life. I’ll usually be outgoing but I’m the type of person to just get to where I’m going and get out of places a lot of the times. I’m the type of person that if you call me I will for sure be there for you. I have a tendency to help people out that I know don’t have my back as well. That’s just the person I am.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
Any kind of offense. I just love to play football and will do anything to play.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I would say I handle life challenges good. I usually deal with it on the field. I try not to let each of them carry over into my after life outside of those lines.
What would a team get in a player like you?
They would be getting a resilient player that will play any where you have asked him to play. Heck I’ll carry the water bottles for you. They would be getting a very coachable kid that is always willing to learn.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
I’m looking forward to the progress that this team has made since January and cannot wait to get back to them and play with them. This is a special group of players that have a motive this year to be great.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
I played with a DAWG of a RG my freshman and sophomore year. He has been very important part of my growth as a football player and person. He’s showed me the way and I’ve tried to follow in his footsteps every since then. That being Matthew Castner.
