Jerry Jones takes a shot at Amari Cooper, La’el Collins, and Randy Gregory | Lack of Availability

Jerry Jones snapped on a few players that was on his roster last year. Saying their availability was crucial to the teams success.

Jerry Jones talked to media yesterday about his Dallas Cowboys and he did not hold back when it came to three of his former players. He did not mention them by name, but he did say three high profile players, and crushed them for their lack of availability.

Jones said this during a press conference at training camp.

“We lost three really highly profile players,” Jones said. “Those players were in the top 10 of our players that make the most money. When you get into that spot, I can tell you, your standards go up. Your bar is higher, your conduct is higher, your attention to the team is higher, not just your own performance but everything.

“When you have that kind of responsibility, which you do when you have that much of the financial pie. What I’m trying to say is those decisions were made more about the availability than ability and they were made as to how you arrive at not being unavailable at times.”

If you remember correctly, Cooper was traded to Cleveland, Collins was released and Gregory initially re-signed with the Cowboys to turn the other cheek on them and sign with the Broncos.

Cooper missed a couple games last year because he ended up with COVID-19. Collins was suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, and Gregory has missed quite a bit of games in the past and also violated the league’s substance abuse policy.

Jerry Jones does have a point when you look at the overall value of the three players, but they were pretty damn good players. They will be missed that is for sure.
