What sets you apart from other offensive linemen?

There are a few things, one of those being my work ethic. I will keep going until I physically can’t go any further and have always worked as hard as I can since I was young to be the best offensive lineman that I can be! I also have a great IQ and can see blitzes and stunts coming before they happen allowing me to call them out to my offensive linemen teammates and pick them up easily every time. I also just love to move my opponents from point A to point B against their will and love to be as physical as I can.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Morehead State?

I absolutely love my teammates and my coaches. It truly is a family oriented atmosphere and it’s the closest team I have ever been apart of. We all put it on the line for each other every rep and it’s evident. On our offensive line we have a saying “I am because of us” and it always rings true because without each other we are nothing.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Michael Oher, as a kid I fell in love with the movie The Blind Side and really respect him as a man and a player and I have wanted to be like him since I watched his story as a kid.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I bring really positive energy to the field everytime I step onto it, I go out there and let loose for every play that I am out there, I play loud and confident and bring the energy everyday.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Ever since I was young I loved playing sports and I was always the biggest in my class so I tried football, and as soon as I stepped on the field I fell in love and never looked back. It’s one of the few things left that doesn’t give instant gratification and I love the work that you have to put in to be successful.

What should we know about Jacob Ungruhe the person?

I put everyone I love before myself and would do anything for them! I love computers and gaming, and I will be graduating this spring with my Bachelor’s in Information Systems.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

I love smash mouth, it’s such a great feeling simply out muscling the other team.

What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

Physically dominate your opponent, prepare better than them physically and mentally throughout the week, and study what they run so you are prepared for it.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I tackle them head on, I tend to deal with them right away because I’ve found it’s better to do that then to worry about them and put them off. I have a great support system that I can rely on when I’m going through something and I’m blessed for that.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A hard hat and lunch pail guy that would do anything for his team.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

BJ Byrd, he’s an absolute animal and deserves a shot somewhere at the next level, he is an unbelievable WR.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

Getting to battle with my brothers on the field again, and to put everything we’ve learned over the past two seasons to win a PFL championship.
