According to report, Coleman was filling his tires with air at a gas station when a car with three men parked in the spot next to him.
Police said two people began to fight with the former SU football player and the third person tried to steal his car.
Coleman tried to defend himself from the attackers when one man pulled out a gun and shot him. Coleman died at the scene.
The report says the men jumped in their car and drove away.
Southern University released this statement:
“On behalf of the Jaguar Nation, I offer sincere condolences to the family, teammates and other loved ones of Bradley Coleman,” Southern University President Dennis Shields said in a statement.
Please keep the Coleman family in your prayers during this tragic situation. This should not keep happening. It is a senseless murder, the three men killed him and did not get anything of value. What a dumb decision.
