What sets you apart from other wide receivers?
I am a taller and longer wide receiver than most. I am a route technician and try to be as efficient as possible. While at the same time I am great at coming down with the contested catch so even if I don’t get as much separation as I’d like I will still make the play.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
Cooper Kupp. I’d love to pick his brain coming off of the season he just had and learn what daily processes he had in place that eventually led to those results.
What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I used to love playing football in the neighborhood with all the other kids trying to catch passes one handed always trying to moss someone.
What are your favorite things about playing football for Campbell?
My favorite things about playing at Campbell are just being at the facility with the guys no matter what it is we have to do that day.
What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?
Consistency. Anybody can have a good game. Can you be that guy throughout the season for your football team.
What should we know about Austin Hite the person?
I’m just a young man trying to work on himself daily and gain the wisdom of the very experienced men in and around my life have to offer me.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
Air raid. I’m a wide receiver so you know I want to put the ball in the air as much as possible.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
My first touchdown at Campbell was on my birthday. It was at App State and really long. When I finally dove in the end zone and looked at my sideline the team was going crazy for me. I’ll remember that forever.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Challenges in life I just make sure I take enough time to make accurate decisions based on the situation. In football it’s just about going to the next play and not letting the last play effect my game.
What would a team get in a player like you?
Someone who brings it every day. A guy who is intentional with the work he is putting in to maximize the results of my role in what we are doing as a football team.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
Going into this season I’m looking forward to the culmination of the work that has been put in by the team to turn the culture from where we were and seeing what we accomplish together. Individually I just look forward to reap what I have been sowing for the past few years.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
DJ Charles and Josh McNeely. Both play defensive back both very athletic guys that can make plays that haven’t gotten the chance to show their talents yet but it’s coming this year for sure!
