ESPN Recruiting Rankings no longer have Arch Manning as the top quarterback
Arch Manning the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning has been the top quarterback for years in the 2023 class, but that recently changed.
According to ESPN’s Recruiting Rankings there is a new number 1 player. This release features 18 new ESPN 300 entries and three players who ascended to five-star status.
In the latest ESPN 300 rankings, Arch was bumped down to the second best recruit in the class and quarterback Malachi Nelson ascended to the top spot.
Nelson is committed to play his college ball for the USC Trojans.
Nelson – a pro-style quarterback who plays out of Los Alamitos, California – earned the top spot due to a larger sample size than Manning, as well as his recent developments both physically and mentally, according to the article.
“In our multiple in-person evaluations this spring and summer, our biggest observation from Nelson has been the growth beyond physical maturity as we see a more seasoned leader,” the site read. “His abilities in game, as well as his performances at camps and combines, make us confident he is now the No. 1 quarterback in the class.”
