Talk about your experience as a student. What is your major/minor? Did you participate in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?
My experience has been different. I stepped out of my comfort zone coming here, being in a different atmosphere and adapting to a new demographic. I’ve taken things as they come, and I believe everything has turned out alright. I’m a Psychology major. As part of my Social Psychology Class, I took part in X-Quest Inc which is a community center that allowed me to work with kids throughout the week.
What do your teammates say is your best quality?
My teammates know that I am a key player on our offense and that I’m very reliable. I have to be, knowing that the ball often comes my way. I also have a dog mentality which puts us in position to win every game. I’ve also been told that I have a good football IQ and that I am a good teammate that encourages others.
What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
Coming in as a freshman, I strictly played as an outside receiver. As the years have progressed, knowing that other teams game plan around me, I’m often moved around, playing outside and slot. My QB and coaches put a lot of trust in me as a key member of our offense although I can also be used as a decoy. We have been known as a run-first team that uses the run to open up the passing game. I take pride in my ability as a blocker. I’ve practiced on special teams as a gunner and kick returner and hope to have more opportunities in the future.
Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?
One of my best matchups was against Elijah Belle at Utica. He was strong and had good size. Ithaca has a good QB in AJ Wingfield. He has good footwork and mobility which allows him to make plays
Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?
Daivon Clements is a young corner who has a dog mentality. He has that “it” factor and can be unstoppable when he is in the zone. He helps keep me motivated in practice, and we feed off each other.
Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.
I missed some games last season with a hip flexor injury. It was hard to walk and mentally taxing not being able to play with my team. It was a frustrating time, but I had teammates who encouraged me. I opened my eyes to things that were bigger than me and accepted my role as a leader on the team. Coming back from injury, I wasn’t 100%, but I knew I could make a difference on our team. My coaches really appreciated my desire and heart as I pushed through the pain and helped my team win games.
If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
Basketball for sure. I played in rec leagues in middle school and also played during high school.
What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?
I’m most proud of the legacy that I am leaving behind at my school and that I am leaving a lasting impression on those I’ve interacted with. I was 2018 Liberty League Rookie of the Year, and I’m a 3-time All-Conference player. I take more pride knowing that I am feared in our league and that other team’s coaches need to game plan around me.
Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.
In 2021, we were playing against Hobart at home. I had recently come back from injury and our game was moving slow. We needed a spark, and I played a crucial part in the momentum shift. I ran a standard out route and took the ball almost 70 yards for the touchdown. We went on to eventually win the game. I came away from that game with 175 yards on 7 receptions with a touchdown.
Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
Being from DC, I support the Washington Commanders. Terry McLaurin is one of my favorite players. Although, I model my game after Stephon Diggs and Davante Adams who fit my frame more.
Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?
Gunna and Moneybagg Yo are two of my favorites. I also listen to my friend’s music. He goes by Kato Datruth.
What is your favorite comfort food?
Five Guys burgers.
Do you have a favorite movie, TV show or actor?
Money Heist is a TV show that I really like. John Wick is one of my favorite movies. Keanu Reeves is one of my favorite actors.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?
In my spare time, I like chilling with my friends and family. I also like to play basketball. I also make rap music and go by the name of B.B.P. Deuce.
Why do you play football? Who or what motivates you the most?
I have an innate passion for the game. I have always gravitated towards it and wanted to play. I realize that not everyone is blessed with the talent to play football, and I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to play. I want to maximize everything that I can get from football. I have the talent that could change the trajectory of my family’s life. Football gives me the chance to provide for my family, yet it has also helped mold me into a better person, teaching me life lessons. I want to continue to grow with football so I can be a better person for me and my family.
