What makes you a top prospect at your position in the 2023 NFL Draft?
I cover ground extremely well at the deep safety position, contributing to a top 5 defense in division 2 football and finishing second in interceptions nationally at the free safety position, at the same time having the speed to help in the run game and all phases of the game. Not only can I cover hash to hash, I cover sideline to sideline, outside the numbers from deep middle safety.
At what age were you first interested in the sport of football?
I’ve always been interested in football, mainly because of my older brothers. I would always want to play out in the street with them and my older brother made me a huge fan of the late Sean Taylor. I became a fanatic at a young age. I was 7, I didn’t play football for a team until my 5th grade year, from there I fell in love.
What is one thing that NFL teams should know about you?
I’m a natural leader on and off the field, who earns respect from my teammates, opponents and anyone around me because of the man I was groomed to be by my supporting cast. I love everything about the grind, getting up early to handle business while everyone else is asleep, putting in those extra hours, I fell in love with it all because that’s truly what I want to do for a living and at the highest platform.
If you could donate to one cause in the world, what would it be?
Personally it would be single mothers who have a hard time catching a break, me and my family didn’t have it easy coming up so to be able to give back to a mother in need would be everything for me.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
No excuses, no explanations, get it done because at the end of the day it’s always you vs you make, your perception your reality.
Who was your childhood hero?
My mother
Who is the most underrated teammate in your locker room at your school?
Mekhi Williams, class of 2019 safety out of flowers high school in prince george’s county, currently at bowie state university
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Being lied to
Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome?
I could tell a million stories but one I could say was waking up one morning getting ready for school and getting evicted at the same exact time, couches being picked up and put outside clothes and all and my mother made sure I didn’t feel defeated or powerless, I went to school didn’t know where I was going after. My mother took care of everything, we ended up moving with my aunt and had a roof over our head.
Tell me something about your school and why it is so special to you?
My school is like a huge neighborhood, everybody knows everybody, games are packed and family feels every time, you get to learn real life lessons every single day being here.
What is your favorite snack food?
Cheezits or sour patch kids
What is the best part of football?
Pick 6’s and turnovers
If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say?
I’m self motivated, extremely athletic and smart, a safety that covers sideline to sideline and has the leadership ability to win championships and make everyone else better while doing it.
If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be?
Sean Taylor
If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would it be and why?
My father who died, Sean Taylor, Roger Goodell
