What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?
I feel as if I bring in great energy into practice. I’m a vocal guy as it is and once I start yelling and cheering my guys on it becomes contagious towards the rest of the team. Whether it is with the offense or aimed towards the defense.
What sets you apart from other offensive linemen?
The fact that I not only want to dominate the guy across from me but the fact that I want to whoop his ass every single play. No matter if it is pass blocking or run blocking I am going to physically and mentally outplay my opponent.
How do you prepare for games?
Lots of music. Usually some Rick Ross or Lil Baby will get me right. But before I start putting my pads on I’ll always go to my phone and scroll through my photos of my family. It always lets me know my why.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
It would definitely be David Bahktiari. I’m a packers fan as it is so for one that would be great. But I would just want to pick his brain about the game of football and all his knowledge that he has. Plus he seems like a good time.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
There’s a lot to choose from but two that would take the cake is winning state in high school. Then traveling to Valdosta, Georgia in 2021 with the team for a couple days was an experience I’ll never forget. Especially the fun me and the boys got to have there.
What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?
Effort, fundamentals, physicality and knowing your assignment.
What should we know about Garrett Carroll the person?
I’m a caring person. I love the people in my life. My family, friends, teammates and I believe in people even if they don’t believe in themselves sometimes. I always try to see the good in everyone and everything.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
I would have to say either inside zone or pin and pull type of plays. I love Inside zone because the main goal of the play is get push and movement, which helps create double teams and helps you maul the first level of defense. I love pin and pulls because it gives us big fellas a chance to get out in space and hit some smaller guys like linebackers, corners, or even a safety. Let’s us be an athlete.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
When facing challenges I always try to tell myself that I can overcome anything if I put my mind to it. So I put my head down and go to work.
What would a team get in a player like you?
Someone who strives to be the best version of themselves everyday whether that’s on or off the field. As well as someone who is not afraid to recognize there weaknesses and attack them.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
To be better than I was the previous season and to put some people’s face in the turf.
If there was a billboard with 5 of your traits on it which 5 traits would be up there?
Goofy, dedicated, caring, reliable, and motivated.
