A man reportedly called the police six minutes before the accident that killed Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

Dwayne Haskins died tragically when he was hit by a dump truck last month in Florida. A medical examination released by the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office shows that the young quarterback was three times the legal drinking limit in the state of Florida and also had drugs in his system.

The toxicology report states that Haskins’ blood-alcohol content was roughly three times the legal limit, which is .08 in Florida. One blood sample that was collected from Haskins showed that his BAC was .20 while another sample registered .24. In addition to being under the influence of alcohol, Haskins also had ketamine and norktamine in his system. Those drugs are used as medical anesthetics but can also be used recreationally.

Investigators ruled Haskins died due to multiple blunt force injuries. They said the manner of death was an accident.

Haskins, who was originally signed by the Steelers in the 2021 offseason, didn’t see any playing time last season, but was signed by the team and hoping to compete for a starting spot.

Haskins was drafted in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the No. 15 pick overall, by the Washington Commanders. He has completed 267 of 444 pass attempts for 2,804 yards (60.1%) with 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in two seasons. In 2020 he completed 148 of 241 passes for 1,439 yards, five touchdowns, and seven interceptions, before being released by Washington.

Haskins was in South Florida training with his teammates for this upcoming season. Many said he had went to dinner and then could have went out afterwards.

Please keep his family and friends in your prayers during this tough time.
