Former star high school quarterback killed in a car accident en route to a wedding reception

Chance Karnes was an amazing high school quarterback in Southern Illinois. He was a star player at Herrin High School and this weekend, while leaving he wedding of his friends and heading to the reception, he was involved in an accident. The Ford Bronco with the newlyweds and Chance were hit ejecting Chance from the back seat of the Bronco.
The 2020 graduate died on impact.
The driver of the Bronco was Ryne Fithian, 25, of Sparta. He had Karnes and two other passengers with him in the vehicle: Allison Flynn, 22, of Sparta, and Destiny Gillihan, 20, of Batesville, Arkansas. The driver of a second vehicle, Rhonda Schaefer, 57, of Red Bud, allegedly caused the wreck. All sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Karnes was the quarterback for his football team, but also played defensive back and punter. He had a special bond with his dad who was also his head coach on the team.
This is such a horrible situation. Please keep the Karnes family in your prayers. It is such a tragic loss, and pray for the newlyweds.
