Ahmad Brewington tragically drowned
Guilford College football player Ahmad Brewington drowned after jumping from a rock into Tuckertown Reservoir in North Carolina.

Ahmad Brewington was a Guilford College football player and went with his friends to Tuckertown Reservoir in North Carolina on Monday to go swimming and have a good time.

Unfortunately, Brewington would never resurface from the water. According to the police reports, Brewington jumped off a rock into a reservoir and never came up. There were 10 students from Guilford College at the Reservoir with him.

Brewington’s body was recovered hours later. Search teams called in from surrounding counties had to come to the reservoir to find the young football player.

Brewington worked at Chick-fil-A and the school is expected to hold a vigil today around 12:45.

This was a letter released from the school.

By now many of you are aware of the tragic death Monday of Ahmad Brewington, a sophomore at Guilford College. This morning, a group of about 200 students, faculty, and staff members gathered in Founders Hall to reflect on his life and positive impact on our community.

On Wednesday at 12:45 p.m. on the lawn in the Quad, we will hold a vigil for Ahmad for students, faculty, staff, and family and friends. This is a private time for the Guilford community to be together to remember Ahmad and to grieve and support one another.

As we move through the week, staff members in the Counseling Center (336.316.2163) and Friends Center (336.316.2445) are available for students. Faculty and staff who need support can contact Human Resources (336.316.2134).

Please keep the family and friends of Ahmad in your prayers, during this tough time.
