The Carolina Panthers need a new quarterback and let’s face it, they are looking for a veteran. They wanted Russell Wilson, they wanted Deshaun Watson, shoot they wanted anyone available. Well, there have been rumors that the Panthers are in on Baker Mayfield, but Panthers beat reporter Joe Person is saying the Panthers are in on another mystery quarterback as well?
RE Baker Mayfield: The former No. 1 overall pick is among the QB options for the Panthers, but he's not the only guy on the list. There's also the issue of Mayfield's $18.8M salary (same as Sam Darnold's). Browns would have to help. Happy Easter.
Person did not mention the name of the other quarterback, but I would have to assume that quarterback is Jimmy G.
There have been rumors that Trey Lance has been told by the Niners he is the starter. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on “SportsCenter” Sunday that Lance has gotten the impression from the 49ers that he is going to start next season.
“Meanwhile, Trey Lance has been working out in the Bay Area. I’m told that he’s got indications, at least informal indications from the team, that he’ll be the guy next year, He’s set to be that. Now, whether that means that they would still keep Garoppolo and that could change the dynamic, possibly. But right now, Lance is going to be the starter.”
So with this news it sounds like the Panthers will have a new quarterback soon, I guess in their situation they are going to find a veteran, but they will need the team to help in acquiring a quarterback. They are paying Sam Darnold damn near 19 million this year. So that is not good.
