Did the Dolphins really have plans to pursue Sean Payton and Tom Brady?

Ok, there is some wild stuff on the internet, but this is maybe one of the wildest stories I have read.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio is claiming the Miami Dolphins had plans to pursue Sean Payton as their head coach and Tom Brady as their quarterback before Brian Flores named them in his discrimination lawsuit.

This would be pretty wild, but why would the lawsuit stop the Dolphins from trying to pursue a Championship?

Florio says his Dolphins sources who requested anonymity said that the team asked the New Orleans Saints for permission to speak with Payton after the coach announced his resignation on Jan. 25.

Flores did in fact file his lawsuit a week later.

Here is the thing, the Dolphins would have had to trade for Sean Payton, the Saints own his rights, and Brady could not have signed until after June 2, but Florio says that the Dolphins have been pursuing Brady for 2 plus years.

Would Brady really retire from the Buccaneers to join the Dolphins? That just doesn’t make too much sense. I am not sure what to think of this story.
