Five teams that need to explore signing All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore

Today, news broke that Stephon Gilmore will be released by the New England Patriots. This is a huge blow, but I would not be shocked if he has a home very soon. The 31 year old Gilmore has not played this year due to being on the PUP list, but I would not be shocked if he is signed with another team very soon. Let’s look at five teams that I feel should be all over Gilmore’s services.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – I know the Buccaneers just signed Richard Sherman, and if you think that is going to stop them from signing Gilmore you are crazy. The Buccaneers want to win and players are coming to their team on cheap deals to get the ring. I would not be shocked if Gilmore would go to Tampa on a one year deal to help get a ring opposite of Sherman. I guarantee you that one phone call from Tom Brady and it would be a consideration by Gilmore.

New York Jets – I know they suck but they have money. If Gilmore is searching for money, this could be the spot. I think the Jets should absolutely throw the bank at Gilmore, but if I am Stephon Gilmore this is not even an option for me. I would must rather go to to a team this year who can win it all. Extend my legacy, then chase paper, but if paper is what he wants this is an option.

Kansas City Chiefs – Let’s face it the Chiefs defense needs help. They are 31st in the NFL right now for allowing points. I do not think that adding Gilmore is going to hurt them. The Chiefs are in a win now mode and they should absolutely go for Gilmore. Gilmore is a veteran and can help the younger guys in their secondary right now. I could see this as a chance to chase a ring as well.

Los Angeles Chargers – The Chargers are on the up and up and with a solid cornerback they could get over the top. I think Gilmore in LA would be a great fit, but do not be surprised if the other LA team makes a run at him as well. I think the Chargers will be fighting for their division in a few years, but they are not there yet.

Los Angeles Rams – I know I listed the Chargers, but If I am Gilmore I want to win. I think the Rams can do that right now. Imagine Gilmore opposite of Ramsey? There is not a better combo in the NFL. I think this would intrigue Gilmore and the Rams are winning now. They could be a team that makes the most sense. I think Gilmore picks a team that is close to winning.

Black Horse – Arizona Cardinals……. They are the only undefeated team and DeAndre Hopkins and Gilmore are close.
