Hello Justin Berendzen(@jrberendzen on Twitter) here to highlight my favorite division 3 matchups.
1.Johns Hopkins University at Muhlenberg College
I expect this to be a very fun matchup these 2 teams each have a very notable wide receivers senior for Hopkins Harrison Wellmann who has 692 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns and Muhlenberg senior Michael Feaster who has 508 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. I would not like being the defensive backs in this game but Hopkins is probably in the better position because they have grad Finn Zechman who has 23 tackles, 3 interceptions and 5 PBUs.
2.Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Hobart College
This is another interesting matchup and I think Hobart has a good at pulling off the upset here. Hobart has a decent running back in junior running back Tim Denham Jr who has 504 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. RPI has a decent receiver in senior Peter Lombardi who has 424 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns.
3.University of Wisconsin-River Falls at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
I expect alot of ground and pound football in this one with both teams having good run games. Eau Claire has one of the best running backs in all of division 3 football in senior Austin Belot who has 808 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. As for River Falls they have a decent running back also in senior Luke Fugate who has 542 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns.
4.Delaware Valley University at FDU-Florham
I think that this game is underrated a little bit because both teams have playmakers. For Florham it all starts offensively with senior wide receiver Connor Perez who has 557 receiving yards and a whopping 10 touchdowns not to mention he has a decent quarterback too in grad Anthony Caserta who has thrown for 1,416 and 14 touchdowns. But can they get past the Delaware Valley defense who has the leader in division 3 sacks junior defensive end Michael Nobile has 11 TFLs and 8.5 sacks in 2021 so far. But Florham has a pretty good defensive lineman in senior Kenny Hands who has 8 TFLs and 5.5 sacks.
5.Birmingham-Southern College at Centre College(KY)
Another matchup featuring a top division 3 running back this time that is Robert Shufford of Birmingham-Southern who has 745 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. In Shufford’s way for Centre they have senior linebacker Armon Wells who has 47 tackles, 7 TFLs and 2.5 sacks. As for Centre offensively you have to watch out for senior running back Patric Edwards who has 251 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. And defensively Birmingham-Southern has senior linebacker Court Coley who has 28 tackles, 6 TFLs and 3.5 sacks.
