Top 5 Division 2 Match-ups for week 8

Hello, Justin Berendzen (@jrberendzen on Twitter) here to bring you my top 5 division 2 matchups of week 8

1.California University of Pennsylvania at Indiana University of Pennsylvania 

Only matchup involving ranked teams in division 2 this week after a jam packed week 7. Indiana PA pulled off the huge upset against Slippery Rock last week. California PA offensively its about senior wide receiver Tyson Hill who has 548 receiving yards. They also have a really good quarterback in junior Noah Mitchell who has 1,886 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. Trying to stop them for Indiana PA will be redshirt junior linebacker Connor Kelly who has 31 tackles, 2.5 TFLs and 3 PBUs. Offensively for Indiana PA watch out for redshirt senior wide receiver Irvin Charles who has 396 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns and redshirt junior wide receiver Duane Brown who has 547 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.

2.Augustana University(SD) at Minnesota State University-Mankato 

This game has 2 highly rated total offenses. The Mavericks of Minnesota State are led offensively by there tall junior wide receiver Jalen Sample who has 565 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. One of the players trying to stop him from the Augustana defense is senior linebacker TJ Liggett who has 51 tackles, 5 TFLs and 4 QBHs. Augustana offense you have to watch senior quarterback Kyle Saddler who has 1,983 passing yards and 23 touchdowns in 2021. In Saddler’s way will be senior Minnesota State defensive back Ty’shonan Brooks who has 16 tackles and 3 interceptions.

3.Texas A&M University-Commerce at West Texas A&M University 

I expect a fun matchup here good offensive team in West Texas A&M against a good defensive team in Commerce. West Texas A&M has a good running back in sophomore Khalil Harris who has 595 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. In his way for Commerce they have redshirt senior defensive lineman Elijah Earls who has 31 tackles, 9 TFLs and 6 sacks. Commerce offensive has senior wide receiver Chance Cooper who has 345 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. For the Buffaloes defensively they have one of the more impressive freshman on defense in linebacker JT Cavender who has 62 tackles and 2.5 TFLs.

4.Colorado School of Mines at Colorado Mesa University 

Colorado School of Mines is ranked top 5 coming into a tough environment at Colorado Mesa should make for an interesting game. One to watch offensively for Colorado Mesa is Lionell McConnell redshirt senior wide receiver who has 299 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Colorado Mines defensively have redshirt junior linebacker Nolan Reeve who has 43 tackles, 9 TFLs and 6.5 sacks. Offensively Colorado Mines has a stud running back in redshirt senior captain Michael Zeman who has 799 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Trying to slow Zeman down will be Colorado Mesa senior linebacker Remington Green who has 45 tackles,  4 TFLs and 4 PBUs.

5.Savannah State University at Albany State(GA) University 

Two teams that are both in the receiving votes category of the coaches poll. Albany State is led offensively by there sophomore running back Marcuis Fulks who has 435 yards and 8 touchdowns. Defensively for Savannah State they have sophomore defensive back Ny’em Bozeman who has 24 tackles, 3 TFLs, and 3 PBUs. Offensively Savannah State has junior running back D’Vonn Gibbons who has 521 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns.
