Just a few days ago we reported a high school football player collapsed on the football field here in Central Florida. Well we now know his name and we are saddened to report that Antonio Hicks was the young man that passed away.
Antonio was at football practice on Tuesday when he collapsed and was unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital but doctors could not revive him. The cause of his death is still unknown.
Over 200 football players and friends showed up this week to a vigil to honor Antonio. Many of the students spoke to the crowd talking about how amazing Antonio was including how he could always make you smile.
The district’s crisis team was at Citrus High School starting on Wednesday for the students suffering with the loss.
This young man had a bright future, and his family told Fox 13 they will continue to lean on Jesus during this tough time.
Leesburg Football team offered condolences and postponed their game this week due to the tragic loss.
