Former New York Jets linebacker faces 10 plus year in prison for distributing heroin

Justin Rainey was a linebacker at Middle Tennessee State who went on to play football for the New York Jets. Rainey is now facing 10 plus years in prison for distributing heroin.
The former NFL football player agreed to plead guilty according to federal documents. Rainey had more than 100 grams of heroin with the intent to distribute it. FBI arrested him back in 2019.
Rainey entered a plea agreement with prosecutors from the US Attorney’s Office this week. The 36-year old signed an agreement for 126 months in a prison.
The judge will sentence him at a later date.
Rainey played college football at Middle Tennessee State as well as FAU. He had a short stint in the NFL with the Jets and also played in the CFL.
