1.)What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

The moment I saw my older brother play I knew I wanted to be just like him when I was just 4 years old. My dad and brother really set the standard and contributed a great deal to my love for the game. 

2.)What are your favorite things about playing football for Stony Brook?

The family atmosphere the players and coaches have implemented within the program makes it a joy to play for. Schematically we are a ground and pound football team and will impose our will physically on teams and that’s my style of play. 

3.)What is your mindset when you are on the football field?

Mentally and physically punish the opponent in every facet of the game. Compete at every single level and win individual matchups that will ultimately contribute to team success. 

4.)How do you prepare for games?

I usually just have a very calming atmosphere around me, I zone in with music and visualize my assignment at hand. I try to limit all distractions on gameday and leave my success to God’s will. 

5.)If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Hines Ward, no question. My favorite player of all time, his physicality and passion for the game were unmatched. His smile was infectious to watch and I can only imagine he would be the same off the field.

Bench Press

7.)What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Hugging my father and mother after winning the County championship in High School. 

8.)What sets you apart from other offensive linemen?

The mindset of physicality and the passion to dominate the defender in front of me. The love for moving a man against his will so my running backs can run free. Also, my IQ of the game and understanding what a defense is doing before they do it. 

9.)What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

Passion, grit, and toughness. I’ve embraced the fact offensive lineman “work the hardest, are known the least, but who cares we are the reason.” 

10.)What would a team get in a player like you?

A player who truly loves the game and will do anything for his teammates. I’m willing to take on any role that an organization will have for me and will make the most of my opportunities. 

11.) What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

Leading a great group of men on the field to battle each and every day. I think we have a very talented group of guys that can really make some noise when we put it all together, don’t be surprised when the Stony Brook Seawolves start climbing the polls. 

12.) What should we know about Kyle Nuñez the person?

I’m a kind-hearted man that will give the shirt off my own back for whoever is in need. I like to walk in the room and lead by example with every opportunity that comes about. Lastly but most importantly, I walk with faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and all my glory goes to him.
