1. What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I wanted to be a football player from the start, I never had talent from the beginning but my hard work and dedication is what stands out the most, I wanted to showcase my skills and power to prove to everyone that anything is possible.
2. What are your favorite things about playing football for Iowa Wesleyan?
My favorite things about playing football for Iowa Wesleyan University is the environment, the staff and students being involved in our home games, especially homecoming games.
3. What past or present NFL coach would you want to learn from the most and why?
I would want to learn the most and who would get the best out of me is Pete Carroll, Pete Carroll has that connection with the players that brings them up with energy to win the game, he came from USC in college, to the Seattle Seahawks. And he really is just a good coach with a good personality.
4. What sets you apart from other offensive linemen?
I think what sets me apart from the offensive lineman is my work ethic, determined, committed, and mentally, I know I never had talent since I was born, but with my hard work I will overcome talent no matter what.
5. What is your favorite workout?
My favorite workout is bench, squat, and deadlift.
6. What should we know about Jonathan Tovar the person?
The one thing you will know about Jonathan Tovar in person is, he is hungry, determined, very silent when actions speak louder than words. He has a great personality when you meet him.
7. What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?
The keys to success on the football field is discipline, determination, drive, character and work hard and be great.
8. What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?
I bring the fight to the opponents, my aggressiveness and competitiveness on the field.
9. What is a moment that improved you as a football player?
One thing that has improved me as a football player is my bounce back from injury but not just that, but motivating myself to be the athlete I was before, it may not be the same as before, but I am a better football player now than before.
10. What would a team get in a player like you?
My hard work, determination, commitment and the fight I bring onto the field.
11. What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
I’m looking forward to my season to be a winning season and hopes of being conference champs holding that ring like a champion, and being the best lineman and football player on the team.
12. What are you still learning as a football player?
I still wanna learn what best foot work I could do for offensive lineman and what type of workouts will help me improve in the weight room.
