Coastal Carolina was nasty last year, and one of my favorite Chants is returning for another year. Teddy Gallagher is one of the fiercest players on the filed every time he walks on. The Chants defense is returning and the only player they lost on their defense was Tarron Jackson who was drafed by the Eagles with the 191st pick in the sixth round.
Gallagher is the player that was in the head of 2nd overall pick Zach Wilson. If you remember the BYU/Coastal Carolina game last year, it was Gallagher and Jeffrey Gunter who were in the face of Wilson driving him into the ground after his pick. Gallagher plays from sideline to sideline and is tenacious.
There have been some studs that came out of Coastal Carolina, and I think Teddy G is going to be another prospect that makes a name for himself. Some will question his size, but you cannot question the kids toughness, and heart. Gallagher rocks a blonde mullet and is the fire in the locker room for the Chanticleers.
Last season, the Louisiana-Lafayette football game was postponed, and Teddy G went to Twitter to voice his opinion. The kid is a competitor and he said he was willing to play the Ragin Cajuns in a Wendy’s parking lot at 3am, if that is what it took to play the game.
That is the type of linebacker you want on our team. He is one of the most competitive players I watched on film last year, and that is why he is one of the first players I talk about this year. I love this kids game.
Gallagher finished last year with 76 total tackles with .5 a sack, 1 forced fumble and one fumble recovered. He has 216 career tackles heading into his final season. The Los Angeles, California native is going to blow up in 2021. Do not be shocked if Gallagher leads the Sun Belt in tackles.
Coastal Carolina was 8-0 in conference play last year, and with Grayson McCall growing on the offense and the nasty front seven for Coastal returning, I would not be shocked if the Chants have success under Jamey Chadwell once again.
NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:
Last year, I actually had a piece very similar to this one, and in the piece I knew that Teddy would read it, so I told him to never change, because his playing style is contagious. Well this year, I am going to say the same damn thing. Teddy you are a natural leader on the Chants defense, from the pep speech pre-game, to the high motor play at linebacker, I want you to know you have a fan in me. I believe in your skill set, and I believe any team would love to have a player like you. You may not be the biggest player, but they cannot measure heart size. Coastal Carolina is no longer a secret, just keep playing, because NFL teams are definitely going to see your skills on film! – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds, Owner
