Daughter of New York Jets legend Al Toon killed in a murder/suicide by her husband
Al Toon was one of my favorite players growing up even though he was a New York Jet. Today, Toon is grieving after his found out his daughter Molly was killed in a murder/suicide.
The Arizona Republic is reporting that 28 year old Molly E. Lillard was shot and killed by her husband. The report states that Lillard was found with gunshot wounds in front of a house around 5 p.m. and transported to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Her husband, Royce Lillard III, was suspected of the shooting and barricaded himself in his home before being found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
SWAT teams were present at the incident.
Molly was a Middleton High School Volleyball standout. The couple has been married for two years, and they had a child according to the report. The child was unharmed. Molly would end up going on to the University of Michigan where she would play volleyball for the Wolverines.
Al Toon, finished his college career in 1984 as the Wisconsin’s all-time leader in receptions (131), receiving touchdowns (19) and yards (2,103), school marks he held for nearly two decades before he was bypassed by Lee Evans in 2003. He was drafted 10th by the New York Jets and earned first-team All Pro distinction in 1986 along with three Pro Bowl selections over eight years.
Please keep the Toon family in your prayers.
