Predicting A Trade: Zach Ertz To Carolina Panthers For A Fifth Round Pick
By: NFLHeads2020
Could you imagine Zach Ertz to the Panthers?
Ian Thomas is a disaster. That experiment has failed miserably. Why not bring in Ertz to fix up what is a sub-par offensive unit and be a target for whatever new quarterback is brought in to trust.
Multiple teams have called the Eagles about the possibility of trading for three-time Pro Bowl TE Zach Ertz, and a deal could happen in the coming days, according to two sources familiar with the talks. @nflnetwork @AroundTheNFL— Michael Silver (@MikeSilver) March 8, 2021
While a fifth round pick may seem too low for what Ertz is, keep in mind that the return that teams are willing to give up seems particularly low at the moment.
The Eagles will probably be content with taking a fifth round pick rather than just straight up cutting him.
Zach Ertz’s preference, if the #Eagles are prepared to move on, would clearly be to be released. He wants to pick his destination. The team obviously wants to get something in return. So that conflict will play out over the next week as both sides jockey to get what they want.

The 30-year-old Ertz is coming off one of his worst seasons as a pro, logging 36 receptions for 335 yards and one touchdown in 11 games.
The three-time Pro Bowler will now seek a fresh start, while the Eagles will look to extend Dallas Goedert and continue working to get under the salary cap.
Could you imagine the Carolina Panthers with Robbie Anderson, CMac, Sam Darnold, DJ Moore and Zach Ertz? That would be a pretty nasty offense.
