Small School Prospect Spotlight: Maliek Golden, DB, Southwestern Assemblies of God University
Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and I’m here to talk about Maliek Golden DB (@maliekgolden on Twitter) draft prospect from SW Assemblies of God this player put up really good numbers at a pro day and you all should take a look at him. He ran a 4.43 Maliek is really fast. His broad jump was 11′ 2″ and he also jumped 11’11 at @CGSAllStar, 42 vertical, 6.87 3-cone drills, and a 4.2 shuttle at the @mjp360 Pro Day. Maliek has a chance to be really good if someone will just give him a chance. He has the makeup to be a really good Defensive back if he gets a shot. I think you all should go take a look at Maliek his numbers are solid.
Alright, I caught up with Maliek to get some thoughts on how he would see himself on an NFL team.
“I’m real-life fearless. I’m gonna run with everybody. I ran 4.4 but I’ve run 21.2 200m and that ain’t regular, it’s not the fastest time anyone has ever seen but that ain’t regular. I use my hands well at the line of scrimmage and if I get hands-on I’m strong enough to throw off route timing significantly. I tackle well. I see myself matching up with bigger receivers and taking them out of the game. Getting off receivers blocks to make tackles closer to the LOS(Line of Scrimmage). Not missing assignments. I have good ball skills so being able to play the ball downfield won’t be an issue for me. I’m flexible and I don’t get hurt. So coaches will be able to depend on me being healthy. I can make plays from anywhere on the field. I have good instincts and a good feel for the game. I’m selfless and willing to do whatever to get the team better. I don’t have off-field issues for coaches to worry about and I truly want to be one of the best in this game some not being locked in is something that’ll never be in question.”
In short, I think that Maliek Golden is good enough to be on an NFL team and that he deserves to at least get a shot. I think that Maliek would be very intriguing to anyone that would take a chance on him.
