I would not be surprised if the Dolphins trade down from 3 in the 2021 NFL Draft
The Miami Dolphins are sitting at a prime position right now. If the Dolphins are in fact committed to Tua Tagovailoa, they are in a wonderful spot for the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Dolphins sit at pick number 3 and there are several teams in need of a quarterback. The Dolphins could easily trade back and pick up some major draft capital.
I say that because if teams want to get Trey Lance or Justin Fields they may have to trade up to #3. Maybe a team wants Penei Sewell or Devonta Smith, but the Dolphins have the best position in the draft. A superstar quarterback will be there for teams in need.
If you look at Trey Lance’s pro day today, the Carolina Panthers were heavily involved. The Panthers who select at pick 8 will likely have to move up ahead of the Falcons who pick at 4. I know many feel the Falcons are sold on Matt Ryan, but at this point, they had their GM and their head coach present at his pro day as well. The Panthers will have to jump the Falcons if they want Lance. I think at this point, the Dolphins could easily drop back to 8 and still get a top 3 wide receiver.
The Dolphins have been projected to take Devonta Smith or Ja’Marr Chase with third pick in the NFL Draft, but if they can move back to eight and still get one of them, why wouldn’t they? Especially if they consider Chase, Smith and Waddle similiar.
At this point, I cannot see the Dolphins staying put.
