2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Patrick Surtain II, CB, University of Alabama
Today, Alabama takes on Ohio State and it will be one of the biggest games of Patrick Surtain II’s career. He will be lined up more than likely with Chris Olave. Ohio State’s star wide receiver has been dominating the Big Ten this year, but can he do it against projected first round pick Patrick Surtain II?
That is the question every NFL scout will be asking themselves when they turn on the game tonight. Surtain is the son of former All-Pro Cornerback Patrick Surtain who had a stellar career for the Miami Dolphins.
The 6’2, 200 pound cornerback is currently a junior that elected to play with Nick Saban and has been dominating since his freshman year.
Surtain as a true freshman played 15 games and finished with 37 tackles, one interception, and seven pass break ups. He played last season across from Trevon Diggs who was a second round pick in 2020 and many believe Surtain will be a higher pick that Diggs.
Surtain is projected to be one of the first cornerbacks selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, and several feel he will be the first selected. He has played against some of the best wide receivers in the country. The younger Surtain has a high football IQ and teams will love his personality. I would be shocked if he falls out of round 1.

Patrick Surtain II is one of the best young players in the 2021 NFL Draft, and tonight he will have his hands full with Ohio State star wide receiver Chris Olave. If he can shut down Olave he may end up solidifying his spot as the top corner prospect in the NFL Draft. Surtain has SWAG and great cover skills.
