Gus Bradley hired as Raiders defensive coordinator
By: NFLHeads
Former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley has been hired as the Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator today. Bradley started his NFL career at Tampa Bay as the linebackers coach from 2006-2008. Bradley then made the move to Seattle as the defensive coordinator from 2009-2012.
In the span of three years, Bradley brought the Seahawks from the 24th ranked defense, to the 4th. His performance awarded him a head coaching position with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Bradley was the coach from 2013-2016 and in that time he won a total of 14 games.
Let me reiterate, 14 games won in 4 seasons. That is very very bad. Bradley was subsequently fired from the Jaguars, and landed a coaching job with the Los Angeles Chargers, again as a defensive coordinator.
Bradley’s tenure saw good defenses for a while, but they ended as the 23rd ranked defense in 2020.
The Raiders defense is bad right now and needs all the help it can get. It is possible Bradley will work out, but to me he is a bit of a long shot.
