Should the Steelers sign QB Dwayne Haskins to a futures deal?
Today the Pittsburgh Steelers have former first round pick Dwayne Haskins in for a visit, according to Ian Rapoport and the move makes a ton of sense. Haskins was cut by the Washington Football Team before the season ended.
Haskins has thirteen starts under his belt in less than two years, but could be an upgrade in the quarterback’s room. We all know Big Ben is the man, but Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs are not the answer. I mean Rudolph is decent, but Haskins was a first rounder, who needs some development.
Haskins is just 23 years old, and he has the talents to be a very good player, he just has not had time to develop.
The Carolina Panthers recently invited Haskins in for a visit but did not sign him. Mike Tomlin does a great job at working with quarterbacks. I mean Duck Hodges did well and both Josh Dobbs and Mason Rudolph are serviceable.
Hodges recently tweeted his goodbyes to the Steelers and SteelerNation. The Steelers have an uncertainty with Big Ben, and at this point they would be crazy not to sign Haskins to a futures deal.
The risk versus reward is at an all time low. The Steelers should absolutely give him a shot. At this point they cannot go wrong. He is better than many players out there, and can be a great addition to the quarterbacks room.
Maybe Haskins will flourish when having a coach that puts in work with him!
