Fantasy Football: Week 16 Waiver Wire Report

Le'Veon Bell Chiefs great addition
Kansas City Chiefs running back Le’Veon Bell (26) is one of the best pick ups in Fantasy Football if he is avaiable this week. With CEH out, it will be the Bell Show.

By Craig Forrestal

It has been a fun season. We added more to the weekly waiver wire article this season and we hope you enjoyed it. More importantly, we hope it brought you W’s. It is now our final session for the season and I leave you with the best that I got for Championship Week. All the best and may the League Championship Winnings be a solid start to your Holiday festivities. Also, thank you all for taking the time to read these weekly articles. Your support and appreciation mean everything to me.

Week 16 Waiver Wire Report

  • Le’Veon Bell/ RB/ Kansas City Chiefs: Clyde Edwards-Helaire went down with what is considered a high ankle sprain and hip injury according to reports, so enter Le’Veon Bell for Championship Week. It’s not like matchup matters because Andy Reid always has a solid plan and this Patrick Mahomes guy they have at QB is decent enough to survive without the RB1. 15 carries for 62 with a score while adding a catch for 14 yards. Darrel Williams will factor into plans also but Bell should operate as the lead back. Championship Week Game: Falcons
  • Giovani Bernard/ RB/ Cincinnati Bengals: Well, I guess we threw dirt on his name a little too soon. Gio scored twice on Monday night handling 25 carries for 83 yards and 1 TD. Gio also added a 14 yard TD on his only reception for the game. He beat a solid Steelers Defense and next up Houston. And Texans can’t stop anyone from the RB position as they are in the Top 3 for points surrendered to RBs on the season. Championship Week Game: @ Texans
  • Ito Smith/ RB/ Atlanta Falcons: Raheem Morris confirmed what we all thought was possibly going to happen and that is Todd Gurley is no longer the lead back. That title goes to Ito Smith. Ito has been super effective over the last 4 games tallying 37 carries for 167 yards and 1 TD. The issue is Gurley and Brian Hill linger and continue to see snaps. Maybe this is Morris’s way of saying Ito gets this week and next to showcase his ability as the workhorse. Championship Week Game: @ Chiefs
  • Tevin Coleman/ RB/ San Francisco 49ers: Let me know when you’ve heard this before: A 49ers RB got hurt. Jeff Wilson grabbed his hamstring but says he is fine. Raheem Mostert and his ankle continue to be an issue as he re-injured it against Dallas. So that leaves Tevin Coleman to shoulder the load as the only healthy RB remaining. If this is the case Coleman could see an easy 25+ combo touches. Jerick McKinnon seems to be an afterthought and merely playing special teams at this point. I see lots of Nick Mullens checkdowns in his future. Championship Week Game: @ Cardinals
  • Salvon Ahmed/ RB/ Miami Dolphins: Fun fact for the day, Ahmed’s 100 yard rushing game was the first for the Miami Dolphins since Kalen Ballage did it in December of 2018. Ahmed picked up where Cam Akers left off and this is just running all over the Pats D. Ahmed registered 23 carries for 122 yards and 1 TD. Myles Gaskin is still on the COVID-19 list and when he returns remains a mystery. Even if Gaskin returns I believe Ahmed has earned touches even when Gaskin comes back. Plus he has a dream matchup with a very vulnerable Raiders run defense. Championship Week Game: @ Raiders
  • Malcolm Brown/ RB/ LA Rams: Cam Akers has already been ruled out for Week 16 against Seattle. So that leaves work to be had in the Rams backfield. Darrell Henderson only saw 2 touches once Akers left the game. Championship Week Game: @ Seahawks
  • Jalen Hurts/ QB/ Philadelphia Eagles: 338 passing yards and 3 passing TDs. 11 rushes for 63 yards and 1 TD. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to the league winner that could be still hanging around on waivers. Hurts looked good against the Saints and hung around in a shootout with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. Next up the Dallas Cowboys. Yes, it’s a rivalry game but more importantly it’s a defense that can be beat. Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard combined to toss 3 TDs against Dallas last week. Championship Week Game: @ Cowboys
