2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Jay Tufele, DT, University of Southern California

Jay Tufele USC Trojans Draft Breakdown NFL Draft
USC Trojans defensive tackle Jay Tufele is one of the best defensive lineman in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jay Tufele is one of the most athletic defensive tackles in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has a motor, and he will track you down even if it is 20 yards down the field.

Tufele has blocked kicks, he has been super disruptive on pass plays and he is a stud at run stuffing.

The 6’3, 305 defensive tackle from Salt Lake City, Utah is an amazing player. He has been a stud for the Trojans.

At the beginning of the year he had 65 career tackles, including 11 for losses of 47 yards (with 7.5 sacks for minus 39 yards), plus a deflection, a fumble recovery for a TD and a blocked field goal in his career.  He has appeared in 25 games in his career, with 18 starts.

Tufele will not play this year, and declared for the 2021 NFL Draft back in August. This was a great move. He is going to be a top 25 draft pick. The defensive tackle class is weak and Tufele is at the top of the class.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes

When you watch the film on Jay Tufele, you have to love his motor. He is non-stop. The 300 pounder looks like a man amongst boys on the field. He is disruptive and does a great job at pushing his opponent backwards. He is one of the best defensive lineman in the NFL Draft. I could see a team take him in the top 15. He is that good. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds, Owner
