2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Shi Smith, WR, University of South Carolina
I lived in Gamecock Country for about four years of my life and let me tell you something, they always seem to have a good wide receiver on their team. This year, it is no different. Shi Smith the Union, South Carolina native has been impressive.
The 5’10 senior moved into the number 1 receiver this year taking over for Deebo Samuel and Bryan Edwards, and boy has been impressive. Smith has really blown up this season.
In his career at South Carolina, Smith had 1,571 yards receiving on 117 receptions entering the season. He is having the best year of his career in 2020.
Smith has already amassed 53 receptions for 596 yards and scored 4 touchdowns. Smith is the go-to wide receiver for the Gamecocks. He has some of the best hands in the SEC too.
Shi Smith is a player that will hear his name called on draft day, and he is proving he belongs. He has gotten better every year at South Carolina. He is a consistent wide out who can catch the ball in traffic.
NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes
South Carolina Gamecocks always have a big time wide receiver. This year Shi Smith is the guy. He may not be the biggest guy, but he plays the game so much bigger than he is. He has solid burst, and is great in traffic. He is a consistent pass catcher and a superb route runner. I love the way he plays the game, and he has been solid in the SEC since entering as a Freshman. He will should his name called on Draft Day. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds, Owner
