2021 NFL Draft Prospect: DeVonta Smith, WR, University of Alabama
DeVonta Smith is one of the top wide receivers in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has been a stud since landing at Alabama. The 6’1 wide out was an elite prospect coming out of Amite, Louisiana and has continued his success for the Crimson Tide.
Smith was a five star prospect out of Louisiana, and was considered the third best wide receiver in the nation. He is not the heaviest player and probably needs to add a little weight being he is only 175 pounds, but he is a phenomenal athlete.
If you look at his career, he has been a stud for Bama. He has played in 47 games and has hauled in 174 balls over the past four years. He racked up 1,256 receiving yards last year, and is on pace to beat that record in 2020. In his career, Smith has 2,868 yards receiving and 31 career touchdowns.
This year, in just six games Smith is terrorizing defenses. He has 56 receptions, for 759 yards and 8 touchdowns. He is averaging 126.5 yards a game. I love the kid on film and feel he will be a top 15 pick come April.
NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes
DeVonta Smith is currently listed behind JaMarr Chase on almost every draft board, but that could change very soon. Smith is dominating once again at the highest level of football. Smith has to gain a little bit of weight in my opinion, but he is easily one of the best athletes on the field at all times. Remember his name, he could end up sneaking into the top 10. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds, Owner
