Friday FLEX Of The Week: Scotty Miller, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Scotty Miller Buccaneers Draft Fantasy Flex
Scotty Miller has been a superstar in the making. Is he the new improved Julian Edelman? Should you play him this week in Fantasy Football?

By Craig Forrestal

The Fantasy Football Friday FLEX is where we name our FLEX Play of the Week. And for Week 8 the FLEX Play of the Week is…

Friday FLEX of the Week:  Scotty Miller, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

As I write this the official status of Carlos Hyde, Travis Homer, Chris Carson, Joe Mixon and Mark Ingram are all unknown but none of the aforementioned individuals have practiced at all this week. And while we can speculate as to whether or not they practice today (Friday) and the answer is probably not making for some interesting RB options to play in Week. And if those guys sit I like DeeJay Dallas, Gio Bernard and Gus Edwards. I like Dallas for his pass-catching ability. Russ Wilson should throw more than usual against San Francisco creating the opportunity for a nice day for Dallas. Gio Bernard struggled on the ground last week but added 5 catches and a receiving score. This week they get Tennessee and Joe Burrow has attempted 293 passes this season in 7 games which is good for 40 attempts per game. Bernard is a better receiver than a runner. And finally, Gus Edwards. Edwards did rush for 130 yards against Pittsburgh last season in Week 17. While many will suggest that type of day will be nearly impossible to replicate I would say a 13+ point day isn’t an absurd expectation.

Back to Scotty Miller.

Miller has been up and down this season but he is coming off his best game where he scored a TD and went over 100 yards. Next up is the NY Giants on Monday Night Football. Tom Brady has been on absolute fire recently making Miller an interesting play for a few reasons. Chris Godwin will be out with a finger injury opening targets for other receiving options. The Giants feature CB James Bradberry who is one of the more underrated CBs in the league and he should draw Mike Evans most of the night. While Rob Gronkowski is showing signs of life in the offense as of late it is Miller that offers that security blanket feel that Brady loves. The Giants are a beatable matchup through the air making Miller’s upside very intriguing. Godwin was out in Week 4 and Miller posted 5 catches for 83 yards and 1 TD. Miller has at least 73 yards receiving in 4 games this season. With an expected solid amount of volume mixed with a Giants defense that has allowed 101 receptions to WRs this season, 4th most in the NFL, we should expect a solid going away party for Miller when Antonio Brown hits the lineup next week.

Production Prediction: 6 catches for 77 yards and 1 TD
