That Sports Guy’s Week 5 Fantasy Football Rankings

Ezekiel Elliott Fantasy week 5
The Dallas Cowboys have been putting it on teams all year but they have not been able to win. This week we think they establish their run game with Ezekiel Elliott and they get the win.

By Craig Forrestal

4 weeks have come and gone and we can officially say we have seen a quarter of the NFL games for the 2020 Season. We now have enough of a sampling to determine whether or not our breakout picks will hit or not. Also, we are seeing unsung heroes establish themselves as key pieces to teams. 3 Weekly Sleepers

  • Ryan Tannehill/ QB/ Tennessee Titans: The Titans get Buffalo this week after an impromptu bye due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the organization. Tannehill has been next-level good for Tennessee since his arrival. He has one game where he did not throw for any TDs this season but he did throw for 321 yards in that game. For the season, Tannehill has 6 TDs and 1 INT with 809 passing yards. Buffalo has allowed 7 passing TDs this season and opposing teams have thrown for over 1100 yards. Josh Allen has shown that he can turn games into a shootout so Tannehill gets his chance to put up points this weekend.
  • John Brown/ WR/ Buffalo Bills: The Titans defense has let up 7 passing TDs this season and while John Brown had a down week last week I expect him to rebound. Josh Allen has shown he likes to throw the ball downfield. John Brown is a deep-ball specialist. Brown has 2 games this season with a TD and over 70 yards receiving. Justin Jefferson had 7 catches for 175 yards and 1 TD against Tennessee showing there is a way to attack this secondary deep. While Brown carries some boom/bust risk I would lean more boom this week.
  • Damien Harris/ RB/ New England: 17 carries for 100 yards in his first NFL start in a game where the Patriots had to run the ball because they were without Cam Newton. While the Patriots backfield is difficult to navigate, I feel Harris will have the opportunity to establish himself as the lead back in New England. James White has the pass-catching role without question, but there is not an unquestioned workhorse. After his showing in Week 4, I would expect him to get the first crack at the bulk of the carries in Week 5. There is RB2 potential in Harris; if Belichick gives him the chance. He is the most talented runner on the roster.

3 Weekly Fades

  • Devonta Freeman/ RB/ NY Giants: I know it is tempting. A game against Dallas who is allowing points at a rapid rate. Freeman even showed a few runs where you thought maybe he might be up to something last week. But the Giants are bad offensively and I don’t see it improving. The Giants are not a fantasy wild card I would want to play with. He turned 15 touches into 70 yards last week.
  • AJ Green/ WR/ Cincinnati Bengals: After the first 2 weeks there was hope that maybe he just needed a minute to get on the same page as Joe Burrow but it is now clear that Green is not going to be on the fantasy radar. He had a nice matchup in Week 4 against Jacksonville but only managed 0.8 half-PPR points; 1 catch for 3 yards. This week is Baltimore and Green should not be counted on.
  • NY Jets Skill Players: The rumors about Sam Darnold being held out of this weekend’s game are not good. Darnold wants to play but there is a chance they play Joe Flacco in his place. The Jets skill players are already iffy at best but with Flacco, they all take a hit for the downward. Is this the beginning of the end in New York for Darnold?
