Former New Jersey standout football player Chase Meola shot and killed near Ohio State campus

Chase Meola was running back, safety and free safety on a pair of state championship football teams in the New Jersey for Mahwah High School. He also played lacrosse. He would eventually attend Ohio State University as a marketing major. Well this morning he was shot and killed in a Columbus parking lot nearby a fraternity house.
University officials said they were told partygoers were asked to leave the house party, and that’s when an “altercation” happened outside.
Columbus, Ohio police were dispatched shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday to a reported shooting in an alley and found a man with a gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene, the university’s public safety department said.
Authorities chased down and captured Kintie Mitchell Jr., 18, of Columbus, and charged him with murder. Mitchell escaped police custody following a burglary arrest early this year, according to the police.
Ohio State released this statement:
“The Ohio State University community is in mourning, and our deepest condolences and support go to the family and friends of Chase.”
We at NFL Draft Diamonds would like to send our prayers and condolences to the Meola family.
