Adam Gase’s job is safe even if he loses to the Broncos, How is that possible?

The New York Jets do not get it. They are setting back Sam Darnold badly, and there were rumors from Rich Cimini and others in New York that if Adam Gase did not win Thursday Night they would look elsewhere and fire their head coach.
Well, that is not the case now according to Ian Rapoport.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Gase’s job doesn’t hang in the balance. He cites people informed of the team’s thoughts as saying that a firing would be counterproductive to the team as a whole and to quarterback Sam Darnold in particular, according to Pro Football Talk.
Here is my question, is it counterproductive to have a quarterback running for his life and throwing to no one? He has no help. I mean how is that not counterproductive?
The Jets ownership is clueless, and they need to do something because Sam Darnold does not have protection. Tonight his best offensive lineman will not be playing, and the Broncos have a solid pass rush. Hopefully Darnold does not suffer an injury, because if that happens that is the only thing that could happen to hurt his career more than keeping their coach.
I hope and pray Darnold stays healthy because Gase is ruining the Jets.
