3 Weekly Sleepers
- Gus Edwards/ RB/ Baltimore Ravens: Mark Ingram looks like he has met the unfortunate reality of a 30-year-old NFL RB. All that wear and tear is starting to subtly show. While Ingram is still productive Gus Edwards is the yard eating banger that can set the tone for the Ravens power run game. On the season, Edwards has 129 yards on 18 carries for an average of better than 7 YPC. Next up is the Washington Football Team and it allows for Baltimore to utilize Edwards more than usual to see how he handles an increased workload. Edwards finished last season with 711 yards on 133 carries; which phenomenal for a supplemental role. Edwards has looked like the best back at times for the Ravens and he gets to show it against the Washinton Football Team.
- Matthew Stafford/ QB/ Detroit Lions: He is historically better at home, and indoors for that matter, so this is a good week to play Stafford. The Saints defense has given up 8 TDs and 756 passing yards after 3 games. Stafford has posted 20+ fantasy points in each of his 5 last home games. This game has a high over/under and the Saints have given up a bunch of points to fantasy QBs so far this season. Stafford has thrown for 244 yards and at least 1 TD in each game this season. A healthy Kenny Golladay enhances his outlook as well.
- Jarvis Landry/ WR/ Cleveland Browns: It feels like not too long ago Jarvis Landry was a fantasy football darling and now he is someone that finds himself on a sleeper list. Not that it is a bad thing but it just shows you the roller coaster of football. And this week Landry finds himself facing off against a Dallas defense that just got torched in the slot by Tyler Lockett. The Cowboys have also given up an NFL worst 7 TDs to WRs after 3 weeks.
3 Weekly Fades
- Braxton Berrios/ WR/ NY Jets: It hurts to write this as I come from a family of Hurricanes fans, but everything about the Jets on Thursday night and this being the Adam Gase Do or Die Game scares me even more. Yes, Berrios has scored in back-to-back weeks but don’t point chase here because a Jets shutout is very much possible on Thursday.
- Carson Wentz/ QB/ Philadelphia Eagles: Wentz has left room for improvement based on his first few starts of the season and I see the struggles continuing this week against the 49ers.The rushing numbers have kept Wentz as playable but even that will come to an end. The 49ers defense has only given up 2 passing scores this year. And the Jalen Hurts whispers are growing louder by the day.
- Darius Slayton/ WR/ NY Giants: The Giants offense is going to struggle for the rest of the season and it is unfortunate for them because it makes you wonder if the young talent is being wasted. This week Daniel Jones takes the offense to LA to battle a tough matchup. Darius Slayton should struggle to find any breathing room as he will be matched up against Jalen Ramsey.
