Talk about your experience as a student. What is your major/minor? Did you participate in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?
I am a Sports and Rec Management Major. I’d like to continue to stay around sports when I’m done with football, maybe even being a coach. With the team, I have participated in community wide clean ups where we do landscaping. I’ve also been involved with Gamma Sigma Phi.
What do your teammates say is your best quality?
Energy. I think they love that about me. They don’t see me as tired. I stay positive and try and push my teammates to get better.
What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
I’ve always felt that I’m a leader. I was recently named team captain. I always look to help out the team as best I can.
I play the corner position. I’ve primarily played on the outside, but I have had time on the inside as a nickel, and I also played safety in one game as a freshman. I may not be the biggest or fastest, but I’m a technician, and I take pride in everything that I do including special teams.
Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?
I played against CeeDee Lamb in high school. We were in the same district. As far as college, we played Baylor in 2018, and I faced guys like Denzel Mims and Jalen Hurd who are big physical receivers.
Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?
Jack Gibbens. He is very knowledgeable and knows how to get things done. He’s a hard worker with great passion. He’s also a good leader who will own up to the few mistakes that he makes.
Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.
This past summer I was looking for a new house. It felt like the first real adult experience that I’ve had to endure. There were at least 3 houses that fell through that I came very close to getting, even putting down deposits for. It was a long wait, and I had to keep looking. I had to live with my girlfriend and her parents for a bit which wasn’t ideal. Meanwhile, I’m preparing for fall camp and getting myself ready for this season. At seemingly the last minute, there was a house that fell in my lap. It was a blessing from God. It was right down from where I used to live.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
Basketball was really the sport that I first loved. Originally, I wanted to only focus on one sport in high school, but it was too fun not to play basketball. I ended up on a couple all district teams in basketball.
What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?
Originally,I got recruited to ACU on a partial scholarship. I had to put in the work and eventually become the starter to earn a full scholarship. I’m really proud of that because that means that my mom wouldn’t have to pay for my school anymore.
My biggest achievement would be earning the team captain status. I’m very honored to receive that recognition from my teammates.
Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.
My first collegiate INT vs Baylor in 2018. It was after half-time and a big momentum changer. I remember the ball being tipped and me diving after the ball. I rolled over with the ball in my hand. No one believed that I had caught it. The referees had to review it. The Int held up. That was my first start at corner when I was playing nickel.
Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
I’m a Lakers fan. Kobe Bryant is my favorite athlete of all-time. His Mamba mentality on and off is legendary. I’m also a fan of the Broncos.
Darrelle Revis used to be one of my favorites. Richard Sherman is a player that I like to watch. He just knows how to move in zone coverage and read the eyes of the QB in order to anticipate and make plays. I also like Tyrann Mathieu. He’s just a competitor that has a lot of heart. He’s a great playmaker despite his size.
Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?
NBA Youngboy gets me pumped before a game. He raps about persevering through pain.
What is your favorite comfort food?
I love pasta so either my mom’s spaghetti or my girlfriend’s tortellini.
Do you have a favorite movie or actor?
Kevin Hart is a great comedian. I also like Adam Sandler. I like the movie the Longest Yard. One of the tv shows that I watch a lot is Big Brother.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?
I’m an extrovert so I like to hangout with friends and just be there for people. I also like taking care of my dogs and teaching them new tricks.
Who or what motivates you the most?
I’m the oldest and my younger brothers look up to me. They count on me. I try to set a good example and not mess up. My mom is my biggest motivation. I want her to know that she raised me the right way.
