Texas HS Football player Gabriel Cooley fatally stabbed at Walmart
Gabriel Cooley was a high school football player for Calallen High School who was stabbed to death on Sunday in a local Texas Walmart.
Officers from Corpus Christi responded to a stabbing after two people were involved in a disturbance, according to reports.
Cooley was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Witnesses say Cooley was standing in the middle of one of the aisles when another man approached him and stabbed him multiple times.
Police say it is unclear if Cooley even knew his attacker. Many witnesses say the attack happened out of no where.
Gabriel Cooley was listed as a senior kicker on Calallen’s football roster on MaxPreps and was named the boys soccer district Newcomer of the Year for District 29-5A in April.
This bothers me greatly because Cooley was a kicker. I myself had a very similar path. I was a soccer player who played football. I was also number 81. This story hurts and I please ask that you keep the Cooley family in your prayers during this tough time.
