James Doby
Former Duluth Football player James Doby died months after graduating. Many news outlets were claiming he died from COVID-19, but that is not true.

Gwinnette Daily Post, and many other news outlets claimed that high school football player James Doby died this week after a struggle with COVID-19. They have quickly changed the article, but it was being reported the former High School track and field star died from coronavirus.

Unfortunately, the 5110, 330 pound lineman died from something other than COVID-19 per his Aunt.

James Doby did not have COVID-19 symptoms as reported by some news outlets and social media this week, according to his aunt, Tamika Doby, according to AJC.com.

“We still don’t know what happened,” Tamika Doby said. “He didn’t have COVID-19. He tested negative. We just know that he wasn’t feeling good. His stomach was bothering him. He went to the doctor, and they gave him some medication to take, and that was it.”

Funeral arrangements have not been announced, but we ask that you please keep James’ family in your prayers. This is such a terrible thing to happen. A Go Fund Me Account was created for the family. If you can donate please do so here.
