Tell us about your university/college. What was your major/minor? How is campus life?

Sam Houston is a small university in the rural town of Huntsville, TX. It has always been a great atmosphere/environment from my coaches, friends, teammates, and even my professors. I am majoring in Public Health, and also want to get a degree in Kinesiology to hopefully one day give back and be a coach. The campus life at Sam Houston is actually pretty live. They always have something going on for the students to participate in.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

They would say that I always take any negative situation and turn it into something positive. For example, if someone messes up on a play, I am never going to get frustrated. I just use it as a teaching moment to help one of my teammates out.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?

I see myself as someone who can lead on and off the field. The position that suits my skill set the best is any position on the offensive line. I like to play all five because I believe the more versatile the more skilled.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?

The best player I have played againsts was not even on the opposing team. I actually practice against him. His name is Joe Wallace.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?

The teammate that impresses me most would have to be my QB Eric Schmid. He has amazing poise during the game and he is extremely athletic.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.

My sophomore year in college I tore my meniscus the fourth game of the season. I had repair surgery done to it, and I had a long physical therapy. I am now well and this (junior) season I was awarded all conference. If it wasn’t for my great rehab this would still be a struggle.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?

If I did not pick up football at a young age, I feel like I would have been a boxer. My father taught me how, and I still enjoy it to this day. I just never got into it.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement would have to be that I am the first male on my father’s side to get a college education. Something I am most proud of is my little brother Caleb. Not only is he on track to becoming an amazing athlete but also a good person.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.

My most memorable play was on special teams. It was actually on a field goal in an overtime victory against Central Arkansas my sophomore year.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
My favorite professional team is the Seattle Seahawks, and I actually model my play off different players but mostly Shaq Nelson/ Marshal Yanda.

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?

I don’t have a specific favorite, but if I need to get pumped up I’m going to listen to Chief Keef or Young Thug.

What is your favorite comfort food?

I’m an original Fat boy, so my favorite comfort food is cookies

Do you have a favorite movie or actor?

I don’t have a favorite actor. I watch Anime. My favorite is Naruto.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies?

In my spare time I play with my dogs or I like to cook. I really only have one hobby and that is hunting

Who or what motivates you the most?

My mom and my brother are my motivators. Not only do I want to provide for my mom but I want to be a good example for my brother so he will look up to the right things.
